Instagram is slowly releasing new Creator Accounts, which seem to have been created specifically for influencers.
Instagram Creator Accounts are similar to Instagram Business Accounts, offering special features and analytics; however there are some big differences you need to know about before making the switch…

1. Can anyone access a Creator Account?
Currently Instagram Creator Accounts are only available to a select number of profiles with more than 10,000 followers. These profiles must also be connected to a Facebook business page.

2. What is the difference in analytics?
The new insights have been designed to offer influencers more details about how their audience has altered and provide more information on daily growth and loss. In addition to these new features within the Instagram app, Instagram Creator also provides a desktop management tool called Creator Studio. This dashboard tool allows a user to view their Instagram content and insights in one place.

3. What is the difference in Direct Messages?
In the new Creator Accounts, direct messages will have both a Primary and a General section. This will help influencers to better segment and prioritise their overflowing inbox.

4. Will it offer new categories?
Instagram Creator Accounts allow the user to choose a new category from an improved list, which should help influencers to define their interests. Users will also have the option to include this category within their Instagram profile.

5. Will action buttons be available?
Creator Accounts do not offer the same action buttons available on business profiles; however creators can tag products from brand partners to create shoppable posts for their followers.

6. Can I still schedule posts?
One big disadvantage of switching to a Creator Account is that you will no longer be able to use third-party tools to schedule posts. This feature still requires a Business Profile. A Creator Account also means that all posts will need to be composed within the Instagram app and published there and then.
