First Website Design re-created by CERN

1st May 2013

Professor Sir Tim Berners-Lee created the World-Wide-Web whilst working at CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research) over 20 years ago and in doing so paved the way for the incredible amount of business and social Website Design options that are easily accessible on this media today.

The aim of the CERN research team is to re-design the first web page and website after which the original hardware and software will be preserved for prosperity.

Below we have posted a screen shot of the first browser dubbed by those who saw it as “amazing and sophisticated.”

Although through technological advances, experience and necessity the World Wide Web and Website Design has changed dramatically over the years it is thought that preserving this original technology will help future generations to explore, examine and think about how the web is changing modern life.

According to one researcher the first Website Design and website is worth resurrecting and preserving because literally embedded in the original systems lie the very principles of universality and universal access that the WWW was built on.
