Is Facebook Organic Marketing Dead?

facebook
2nd May 2019

Facebook has changed and if you work in a social media role, or look after your own business’s Facebook content, then you will have noticed that your organic marketing efforts are falling on deaf ears. The reach has declined and the engagement just isn’t there.

So what can you do and where should you focus your Facebook marketing efforts? Read on for our top tips…

Facebook groups

Facebook’s mission has shifted from wanting to connect the world, to now giving people the power to build communities and bring the world closer together.
Since this change many social media experts believe that privacy focused platforms will now see the most growth.

This is why it is now more important than ever to create and build Facebook groups around your industry and offer regular live videos within these groups to provide knowledge. If your videos are successful they can even be monetised. There are also rumours that the ability to advertise your groups is coming soon.

Video

Video is the best type of content to share on Facebook and will receive the best engagement.

We recommend that you adjust your Facebook content strategy to 70% video, 20% images and 10% status updates and links. Links currently see the lowest reach. In particular, You Tube links as YouTube is Facebook’s main competitor.

For the best engagement results your videos should be:

  • Around 30 seconds long.
  • Optimised for social, which means a square format and including captions.
  • Relatable human stories.
  • Made to include your links.

Mari Smith, a Consultant for Facebook suggests posting a video on Facebook every day for 30 days. She says her clients have seen a substantial increase in organic reach using this tactic, even after just 7 days. Another video tactic Mari recommends is to add budget to a video after 1-24 hours to see an increase in your organic reach.

Facebook stories

Facebook stories are a fantastic way to promote your business and get creative. This Facebook feature is definitely one you should be using to market your business and show your fans what your brand is all about. You could also try using Facebook story ads to reach a wider audience. These are cheaper than some of the other social media advertising options and will only become more expensive as time goes on.
