How to Improve Efficiency When Content Marketing

content marketing
3rd January 2019

The quicker you can write good quality, appropriately optimised content, and the quicker you can generate leads and build your brand. Efficiency is the key here and something you should certainly work towards as a content marketer.

A good place to start with your content marketing strategy, is with the creation of an editorial calendar. In other words, a well-structured timetable of when you’re going to write and post on your blog. You can include the title and perhaps even the keywords, so that when it comes to writing it, you can delve straight in. This will prevent you from wasting time coming up with a topic to begin with. After all, a decent heading doesn’t always come to you straight away; they can take time and effort to compose. If you’re struggling, there are lots of tools on the internet that can help you generate appropriate topics.

It’s helpful to outline your article before you start, perhaps with some bullet points. Once you have the framework, it is likely the words will fall into place far easier. Try and be as thorough as you can with the outlining stage, to provide as much detail as possible so that you don’t have to divert your attention from writing when it comes to the first draft.

You could be a fantastic writer, but you’ll get nowhere if you are surrounded by distractions. Put your phone on silent and log out of social media so that you can truly focus on the task at hand. Every time you divert your attention away from your writing to reply to a text or check Instagram, you lose momentum.

Additionally, be sure to embrace a positive mind-set so that you don’t feel defeated before you’ve even begun. It’s ok to write a below average first draft that you can go back to and polish, rather than putting pressure on yourself to get it perfect the first time.
