Google is Urging for Faster Page Speed on Mobile

24th August 2018

Page speed has been a huge aspect of SEO for desktop searches for nearly a decade but, until recent updates, it hasn’t been as important for mobile. Last month (July 2018) the Speed Update was rolled out as part of Google’s continuing effort to ensure mobile users have just as good an experience on a website as desktop users. After all, people want to find answers to their questions as soon as possible, especially when they’re on-the-go and using their mobiles. There is a strong correlation between page speed and bounce rate, which is why website owners are being urged to improve it.

Of course, there are other important aspects of SEO that can make or break your organic performance. This means that the repercussions won’t necessarily be major if you have slow load speed on mobile, as long as you’re ticking all other SEO boxes. However, having a slow website could prevent you from beating your competitor to the top spot in an SEO tie-breaker. Web developers and SEO professionals are encouraged to think broadly about how they can improve a user’s experience.

There are lots of things that could be influencing the load speed of your website, including uncompressed images, uncached JavaScript and large HTML page size. Luckily, these issues can all be addressed. In fact, Innermedia can provide this service for you, which will involve tidying up your redirects, cutting down your page sizes and leveraging your browser caching, alongside other alterations.
