3 Ways to Add Authority to Your Content

24th November 2017

Blogging plays an integral role in attracting and building an audience of potential customers, as well as increasing your rankings in Google. As it becomes more and more crucial for the success of your business, the need for it to be of exemplary quality is also increasing. But if you want people to trust what you have to say, and therefore come back for more, you have to come across as authoritative and knowledgeable in your particular industry. By incorporating our three tips below into your writing, you’ll be sure to prove yourself as an expert.

  1. Do Your Research

Making a statement about a particular topic is simple but having the facts and figures to back it up is what will ensure your readers trust and respect what you have to say. Make sure you find these statistics from reputable sources, such as academic research papers, and cite them so that can’t be accused of plagiarism. In addition, readers are more likely to believe facts and figures that are displayed in a visual manner, such as a graph or chart. Although thorough research might add to the time it takes to get your article finished, it will be worth it when people trust and the conversions are reeling in.

  1. Check Your Facts

What seems like one small, simple error could actually harm the credibility of your entire article, and seriously jeopardise the reputation you’re trying to build for yourself. Readers will not feel that they can rely on you if your articles contain errors and they will be more than likely to look elsewhere. Make sure that the facts you use are current and accurate by cross referencing them in during your research stage.

  1. Quote the Experts

Incorporating information provided by subject matter experts (SME) works wonders on your reliability. So, if you can, why not get in touch with some industry leaders requesting an interview, so that you can include them in your article? If this isn’t possible, quoting and referencing another article written by an expert can work just as well. By name-dropping, you give your article a credibility boost.
