5 Ways to Improve your Instagram Strategy for 2020

Instagram 2020
10th January 2020

Now that Instagram has begun to hide likes on posts, it’s harder than ever for brands to monitor popular content and increase engagement. Today brands need to do more to keep their followers engaged, and they need to dig a little deeper in order to learn what content works best for their business.

To help you improve your Instagram strategy for 2020, we’re sharing five tips to help boost engagement and keep your followers following!

Tip 1: Content Creation
Now that likes are disappearing on Instagram, we need to focus on the other ways users engage with our posts. When planning your 2020 Instagram strategy it is crucial to create more content that your audience wants to keep and engage with. Encourage more comments and saves on your posts in order to boost your engagement and reach more of your followers.
Think about how you can create “savable content” – This means content that your audience wants to view again. This type of content includes lists, helpful tips, recipes, travel guides or even motivational quotes. When you share this type of content don’t forget to tell your viewers to ‘save the post’ in your caption. Many are still new to this feature and may need instructions.

Tip 2: Use Story Stickers
Stories are great for brands because they provide a way for businesses to connect with their audience. One of the best ways to utilise this feature is by experimenting with Instagram Story Stickers. These are interactive icons that you can add to your story to encourage your followers to engage with your content by sharing their opinions or asking you questions.
Stickers are a great opportunity for you and your followers to get to know each other, and they give you a chance to find out what your customers want. Another fun sticker to try is ‘The Countdown Sticker’. This is perfect for driving interest towards a product launch or a limited time offer.

Tip 3: Test Post Times
Don’t be afraid to test different post times on Instagram. You may be used to posting on weekdays when you are in the office, but testing some weekend posts could be more beneficial for your business. At the weekend, people often have more time to spend on social media, which can mean better engagement levels. Don’t forget to regularly check your analytics and measure how each of your posts is performing.

Tip 4: Longer Captions
Try to make your captions longer and give them purpose. There are many ways to format your captions so that you can break the text up into smaller bullet points, which is great for offering tips and advice. Have a look back through some of your old blog posts and shorten the text for new Instagram content. Longer posts mean more engagement.

Tip 5: Have Fun
Don’t forget to have fun with your audience using memes or relatable quotes. These give your brand a personality and relatable content is what people will share with others. Remember to remind your followers to repost your content to their Instagram stories and tag you so you can view it!
